New Horizon Explorers

74th is extremely lucky to be linked with the awesome New Horizon Explorer unit. New Horizon is an active unit, taking part in loads of activities and camps across the country.

The Explorers are 14-18 years old. They can do the Duke of Edinburgh Awards as well as our own Chief Scout Diamond and Platinum Awards, leading to the Queen’s Scout Award.  Explorers can go on a young leader scheme, teach younger members skills they’ve developed, and even organise camps with no adults present (subject to training).

Recently, two New Horizon Explorers took part in the World Scout Jamboree 2015 in JAPAN! We are extremely proud of them and cant wait to see what they do next.

Explorer Unit meetings at St Germain's Church hall are weekly (excluding school term holidays) and usually last 90 minuets.

Explorers are expected to wear a uniform (The Scout Association is a uniformed organisation) please see below for details.

Uniform

All Explorers wear:

  • A beige shirt or blouse shirt,
  • Unit orange and blue neckerchief (scarf) with woggle,
